This took place on Saturday and was the culmination of their festival which had seen events taking place over the preceding fortnight. Sadly, since we had been enjoying glorious weather, the day dawned grey and stayed cold and drizzly, but this didn't dampen the spirits of visitors who thronged the stalls. Colour and music were provided by local Morris and clog dancers. Lady Eleanor found that though she tried hard, children were reluctant to start work in her great hall. Parents, however, were queueing up to volunteer children for work experience. Beth the weaver helped children master the art of the lucet and drop spindle, whilst Old Sal had mixed luck with her famed medieval cures, with members of St John's Ambulance preferring to stick to their trusted methods. One brave knight tried the cure for baldness before finding out the ingredients, and we await results.
